Epilogue Insight

I read something that I hope both lovers and haters of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows's epilogue will read and consider. I think is a great bit of insight from one of Jo Rowling's American editors, Cheryl Klein.

Some Thoughts on "Deathly Hallows"  - Spoilers, obviously...

Look at me posting more than once in a week! Should we continue this trend, I wonder?

I'm still a bit too traumatized to make a large Deathly Hallows post. Maybe when my mother finishes the book, I'll read it over again completely. I've already read from The Prince's Tale on until the end again, and The Prince's Tale three times overall...

I'm totally planning on changing Lily and the Coral Orb all around to reflect The Prince's Tale. I knew at once that I couldn't be happy with Lily and the Coral Orb if I continued on without putting that wonderful friendship in. As to when that will happen... I suppose that will depend on when fluffyfledgling decides to read Deathly Hallows. She is my beta, after all. I need her. But I don't think I've been this excited about actually writing something in a long time. Of course, that will probably be shattered when I still get zero readers, but ah, well... for now, I'm blissfully in love with the ideas I have in store. (And with Deathly Hallows in general.)

And to feed my inspiration... All I Need a lovely Lily/Severus video. Lovely, but sad so... to cheer you up afterwards Hearts, the adorable video that I went on YouTube to find in the first place. No idea what that commerical has to do with JC Penny's, but it certainly fills my heart.

So, in closing, does anyone have any Lily/Severus (Or is it Severus/Lily?) fics, art, or anything they can point me to? Friendship, one-sided love, or even romance. Especially with Post-Deathly Hallows information taken into account! (Actually, I'd be interested in other Post-Deathly Hallows fan works as well.)

Oh, and also! -  It's a little early to say this, but if the 7th movie messes with/cuts The Prince's Tale too much, I'm going to be seriously angry! I mean it was infuriating to see the pensieve scene killed in the 5th movie. :( I wanted to see Lily! I wanted Harry to realize his father wasn't perfect! These are important things!

Edit: Jo Rowling says she probably will write the Harry Potter encyclopedia we all want! With more details on the fates of surviving characters! More here.

I really want to work on my page. I think we should do that next weekend. Yes, no, maybe?

Ohgod I feel so bad after reading this. D: I really, really hope I haven't killed any of that enthusiasm.

Anyway. That link you linked to: I liked the article, it was written by someone very down-to-earth and I like the points she makes about choice and family. I disagree what she says about the epilogue, though, because I don't think that's the reason people don't like it. (I could be wrong.)

AH I forgot to tell you. I went to watch the movie a few days ago. It was just as bad as you said: so much stuff was cut! I think if you hadn't read the book, it would be very difficult to understand what was going on. Oh, and... the fact that Hermione looked so gorgeous? PISSED ME OFF.

Well... maybe a little. :( But I'm in such a bad mood lately. Don't feel like it's all your fault. I'm going to therapy tonight... hopefully, I'll come back feeling better. Jill will be so thrilled that I'm angry. Honestly. She thinks I don't get angry enough.

Why don't you like the epilogue, then?

Yes, the first day... I went crazy. But I've calmed down and started to like it for what it was. (Because I'm me, and I can't not like stuff.) They must be kicking themselves for cutting the whole point of Snape's Worst Memory, though. (Because more, including Lily, WAS FILMED!!) I will never stop being angry for that one.

But I adore Luna. I love the music. And Dan's acting has improved so much in the last two. And yeah, Hermione was a little too pretty (and a little too blonde), but I guess I've gotten used to that one over the past three. And Harry with short hair was annoying. It wasn't even long enough to be messy! In the one where being like his, for better or for worse, father was most important. UGH.

Ohdamn. *growls* LJ ate my comment.

I didn't like the epilogue not because I was unused to Harry being a normal person (out of his hero role), but because I didn't like the way it was written. it read like a fanfic The epilogue was important because it really stated the finality of the series, that Harry's adventures are over, but it was too domesticated for my liking. We didn't need to know the children's names and stuff; something vague would have been fine.

The effects in the movie were cool though! The end part, when they were fighting in the Department of Mysteries: *_* ♥

I shouldn't talk on the topic of HP movies, though, because I haven't seen the third or the fourth. But I will! I borrowed PoA and GoF from the same friend that lent me DH. (and on the day she gave me all three hp items in a plastic bag, we went to watch OotP. XD)

Hm. Well, I thought it was important. At least for his youngest son, because it showed how even after how badly Snape treated him, Harry saw the good things about him now. I think that says a lot about how Harry has matured. (And I'm also tired of people making fun of the name. I thought it was adorable!)

Actually, I didn't like the effects in the battle... VOLDEMORT AND DUMBLEDORE'S WANDS CONNECTED!? What on earth was that all about? The rest of it was okay, I guess, but they just ignored all the cool stuff they had to work with in the books and made up their own stuff. Which I find rather irritating.

Ha ha. The name Albus Dumbledore was rather cute; but I find it also interesting how those two names (both highly significant!) are lumped together onto one boy. It's a pressure he may come to realize after he grows up? But that's interesting about Harry's maturity; I hadn't really thought about it, and if you stop to think about it, the fact that the younger one is named AS shows how it took a period of time to really accept how things happened.

However. Scorpius is just an awful name. D: ! I refuse to believe Malfoy named his children. Must have been his awful wife. :D

Aw.

Hm. That may be. But it's also possible that he just wanted to name his first son James.

Scorpius isn't... that bad. I really don't mind it. But isn't strange that she doesn't mention who Draco's wife was?

I wonder if that was deliberate so as to make the point that Draco married someone we didn't know about, or if it was supposed to be mysterious. Either way, I am very happy she didn't mention! It means we can stick random female characters from HP into that position. :D

I guess so, but... Hermione are Ginny are taken. Haha. I wonder who would fit right with him in canon, though.
